CCLL Manager Responsibilities

Welcome to another Little League season!  Thank you for volunteering your time to Manage or Coach a team.  Your efforts are appreciated!

Those who manage a team have many responsibilities during the season.  Please read on to be sure you understand what is required in addition to coaching.

There are several pre-season events that are mandatory for Managers/Coaches.  Check out the "Pre-Season Manager/Coach Events" tab on the website.

Practices and games

Generally teams practice twice a week (practices are scheduled at the Managers meeting) from mid-March to Opening Day. Fields for practice are CCLL fields and Cecilton park fields. In the past we have been able to use the CCES fields.  Little League has developed a Tee-Ball practice plan and a Coach Pitch practice plan to help Managers in these division develop player skills.  Both plans will be available as a CCLL resource.

Mangers may select one Coach prior to the draft.  Following the draft, Managers may select an addional Coach and a Team Helper from their roster.

CCLL equipment bags and practice balls will be distributed to all Managers prior to practices. Game balls and scorebooks will be distributed prior to Opening Day.

CCLL uniforms include shirt and hat/visor.  Team name/colors will be distributed at the managers meeting.  Managers will choose a pant and sock color and inform parents.

We try to schedule two games per week, weather permitting.  Regular season games end in early June.  All-Star practice begins in mid June. All-Star tournaments are double elimination.

Travel - Minor/Major divisions may have to travel to other local leagues during the regular season. Jr/Sr divisions WILL travel to other local leagues during the regular season.

Field Maintenance after practice and games is your responsibility.

Field must be raked and all holes filled following practice and games.  There is no gap between practices so allow enough time for this prior to the next practice starting.  Rakes have been provided on all fields.  Please make sure they are returned to the dugout when done.

Home team provides a home plate umpire and parent to work in concession during the game.

There will be a list of Umpires handed out to all Managers.

Each parent should volunteer at least once for concessions.  Parents may split the shift if desired.

It is highly recommended that all teams have a “Team Parent” to help in distributing team information, picture order forms, Opening Day Basket Fundraiser, Picture Day organization, and fulfilling the concession stand requirement for all players.  PLEASE let them help you out!

Binders with Player forms will be handed out to each Manager.  Managers are required to carry this binder to practices and games.  Binders must be turned in at the end of the season when equipment is returned.
